Programmes and guidance for orientation

Important note: this page provides a general orientation on possible funding programmes. It does not replace individual funding advice and does not constitute legal advice. Funding conditions change, programmes close or receive additional resources. For binding information please contact a certified funding advisor or the responsible funding authority directly.

At federal level, the go-digital programme of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises taking on digitalisation projects. It covers IT security, digital business processes and sensor technology, among other areas. The programme is administered through certified consulting firms.

At state level, many German federal states offer their own programmes. In Lower Saxony, companies can receive partial funding for digitalisation and automation investments through EFRE resources. The Investitionsbank Niedersachsen (NBank) is the central point of contact. We are available for an initial conversation and can give you an indication of which programmes your project might broadly qualify for.

Frequently asked questions about funding

Can an automation audit itself receive funding?

In certain programmes, consulting services can be funded, including digitalisation audits. The go-digital programme funds external consulting for SMEs. Whether your project qualifies is clarified by the certified funding advisor during the application process. We can assess whether the audit broadly fits a given funding logic.

How do I approach a funding application?

The first step is checking whether your company meets the basic eligibility criteria of a programme, usually company size, sector and registered location. Then you apply before the measure begins, as retrospective funding is excluded in most programmes. A certified funding advisor supports the application and reporting.

Which funding programmes exist for robotics and cobot integration?

Automation investments, including cobots and palletising cells, can receive partial funding through various programmes. Relevant ones depending on the state include EFRE programmes, KfW innovation loans and specific state programmes. Reliable guidance can only come from a certified funding advisor based on current programme terms.
