What vendor-independent consulting means

Industry 4.0 is not a product you buy but a capability you build. Ask a vendor or system integrator and you receive an answer that fits their portfolio. Vendor-independent consulting frames the question differently: which standards, interfaces and systems fit your production and your goals?

We sell neither controllers nor licences. Our recommendation is driven solely by what makes sense in your plant: economically, technically and with regard to the people who work with it. That explicitly includes concluding that a step is not yet sensible or that existing systems should continue to be used.

The foundation for Industry 4.0 is a solid data basis. OPC UA as an open standard for machine connectivity, consistent semantics across ERP, MES and production, and an edge layer that brings data where it is needed. On this foundation, AI applications become possible because the data they access is reliable.

Frequently asked questions about Industry 4.0 consulting

What is the first step towards Industry 4.0?

Almost always it is the data basis. If machines, ERP and MES do not speak a shared data language, advanced analytics and AI bring little benefit. The first step is an automation audit that captures the current state of the data basis and system landscape and delivers prioritised recommendations.

Which standards are most important for Industry 4.0?

OPC UA is the most important open standard for horizontal and vertical integration in manufacturing. MQTT Sparkplug complements it for resource-constrained devices. ISA-95 defines the model layers between the factory floor and ERP. These three form the foundation on which we recommend architectures.

How does your consulting differ from a system integrator?

A system integrator builds what you commission, based on the technologies they offer. Our consulting clarifies upfront what is sensible to commission and in which technology base. The report from the consulting is your basis for a tender and the actual selection of an integrator.
